In 2002, in the face of relentless terrorist attacks and their repercussions on the
Israeli economy, the planned educational budget for Israeli public schools to obtain
English language reading books was cancelled.

The challenge was to find a way to enable Israel's youth to improve their literacy in English -- the international language of technology, communication, commerce, and diplomacy.
Another challenge was to find ways to help Israelis heal and come together rather than leave them to feel isolated as they bore the brunt of terror -- to find ways to help youth and adults build bridges between one another in a shared
Israeli identity rather than let them fall victims to the terrorists' attempts to foster greater antagonism and distrust between the different Israeli populations.

Thanks to you

Over 41 tons of books have arrived or are on their way to Israeli schools.
Libraries are being set up in schools in different sectors around Israel. Educators,
parents, and young people of different religious, ethnic, and language groups in
Israel are coming together out of a renewed sense of unity in our children's
education and future.  Different sectors in North America and Europe are coming
together and reaching out to one another and to Israeli teachers and children in
a shared vision of a better future for all of us.

Thank you for being part of this miraculous process.

Thank you for helping us come together in a shared
dream
of democracy, liberty, and peace!
Thank you for being part of a renewal in faith
and a reassertion of the possibilities of good in humankind.
