An Example of Help in Action

Bulletin board at North Shore Hebrew Academy High School

As part of her outreach to collect reading books
Joyce Levine, North Shore's school librarian,
set up a bulletin board displaying photos sent by
Ulpenat Bnei Akiva "Neot Avraham," the flagship school
of Arad, and North Shore's adopted Books for Israel
community.  North Shore is a new school, now only in its
    second year. Mrs. Levine writes:
"This year is the first that North Shore
has its own library.  We know how vital a school library
is to any school and that's why we felt this project was
    so important."

A few months later, Joyce Levine and a core group of
volunteer students wrapped up their bookdrive.
They carefully went through all the books collected.
based on general criteria outlined in this Project
(see "Guidelines" in the "You Can Help" section).
They then sorted out those books suitable for mailing.
Books meeting the standards were then packed up
into  4 M-bags which at the end contained several
hundreds of books. The M-bags were mailed out
just before Pessach. It took some three months
before they arrived in Israel, but everyone in the Arad
flagship was excitedly looking forward to their arrival
and were very grateful when the books finally were
  delivered.

Many thanks to all who have made this bookdrive possible --
and to all the students, parents, fellow teachers, and community people who helped in every way.

Special thanks to Joyce Levine, the bookdrive organizer,
and to the core group of volunteer students at NSHA  who took so much responsibility at many levels
