You can help!
Educators, psychologists, and concerned citizens are joining together to help Israeli children receive
English language literary books, and to spark a channel of meaningful communications about literature.
We hope the Project will build a bridge of learning and sharing between children in Israel and friends around the world.

A note sent to us by one of our flagship coordinators helps illustrate what happens to the books you send:

A donor wrote to us asking how many students enjoy the books that are sent to us via the
Books for Israel Project.

At my own flagship in the Shalavim area, we distribute the books to five elementary schools,
three high schools and two regular libraries. In total, thousands of people come into contact
with these books and they are taken out and read regularly.

Because the books are owned by the schools and public institutions, they will also reach more
and more generations of readers. In addition to the thousands of children from different sectors
who benefit through this project, in our own geographic area alone, adult level books are enjoyed
by parents and by local teachers who are also upgrading their English levels.
I know that the case is similar in communities throughout Israel who have become part of this
incredible grassroots campaign of help, self-help, and sharing.

Please pass on our thanks to everyone for a project that has tremendous educational impact and
that provides so much emotional support for young people and educators alike. This project is an
incredible response to the violent extremists who try to tear us apart from one another and who
aim to destroy our belief in freedom. The books and the correspondence from the donor communities
serve as a material and empowering aid to combat illiteracy and the fear, apathy, and hopelessness that terrorism and an economy badly wounded by terror produces.
